“Wafer” describes the installation between flanges; it does not specify a single closing mechanism. Wafer check valves may use a single disc, two plates or other arrangements, with a spring assisting closure on some designs. The spring arrangement is part of the valve design, rather than a setting to change on site without the manufacturer’s instructions.
Before fitting the valve, allow clearance for the closing element to open without touching adjacent pipework or equipment. Mating flange dimensions and installation orientation also need to suit the model.
The DH77X wafer check valve combines a cast iron body and disc, stainless steel spring and NBR seal. Those details help distinguish it from other compact non-return valves that may look similar from the outside.
