Le système d'exploitation&Y construction keeps the stem thread outside the flow passage. As the handwheel turns, the stem rises or descends with the gate, making the open or closed position easy to see during inspection.

Rising-Stem Construction
The external yoke supports the stem above the bonnet, leaving the stem movement visible. This arrangement is useful where operators need a clear indication of the valve’s position.
The cast iron body and flanged ends provide a conventional construction for water and utility pipework. The gate opens clear of the passage for normal full-open service.
