An electric ball valve lets you open or close a line from a control panel rather than at the handwheel. It is useful for plant services, water systems and equipment installations where electrical power is available but compressed air may not be.

Choosing Electric Operation
The motor-driven actuator turns the ball through 90 grados. For on/off service, it moves between the open and closed positions. Modulating service needs an actuator and valve arrangement designed for that duty; adding an electric motor does not, por sí mismo, make an isolation valve a precision control valve.
An electric assembly is often convenient where a power supply and control wiring are already in place. Supply voltage, control signal, travel time and feedback should match the existing system. The required response to a power failure also needs to be part of the specification.
Compared with pneumatic operation, the practical difference is often the site infrastructure. One installation may have a reliable air network; another may be easier to serve electrically. Compare the whole installation rather than assuming one operator is always more efficient.
