A check valve that closes abruptly can make itself heard throughout a pump system. Silent check designs aim to reduce that closing impact by responding as forward flow falls, before significant reverse velocity develops.
Farpro’s range includes the HC41X silent check valve and the SK300 slow-closing model below. They use different closing arrangements, so the better choice depends on the pump duty and the behaviour of the pipeline.
Closing Response in Water and Pump Systems
A spring-assisted silent check uses a short disc movement and spring force to help return the disc toward its seat as flow decreases. A slow-closing valve uses a different approach to the closing sequence. The two should not be treated as interchangeable simply because both are intended to reduce closing disturbance.
These valves are considered for water supply, circulation and pump installations where reverse flow, noise or pressure transients need attention. The pump’s operating range, pipe profile and shutdown conditions help establish which response is appropriate.

When the Pump Stops
If you are investigating a closing noise or pressure surge, tell us when it happens: during a normal stop, a power failure or a change between pumps. That is often more useful than describing the valve as simply “noisy”.
