For fire service, match the actual valve and any monitoring accessories to the project’s approval requirements; OS&Y name alone does not establish approval.

An NRS valve keeps its external height essentially unchanged during operation, but it still needs access to the operator, stem seal and bonnet. In common designs the working threads are inside the body, so material compatibility with the medium matters. Neither arrangement is automatically maintenance-free or better suited to every harsh environment.
